Introduction

This course is designed to educate delegates Level 1 Obstetric scanning, so that they feel comfortable about the basic obstetrics and gynaecology scans. The delegates will be able to assess foetal growth and recognize basic structural foetal anomalies, as well as basic gynaecology scans and anomalies.


Course Content

The following modules will be covered:

  • Basics of ultrasound: Physics, Knobology, and Image optimisation
  • Basic obstetrics scanning: 1st, 2nd, and 3rd trimester
  • Basic female gynaecology scanning
  • Foetal Biometry and growth
  • Some easily recognizable foetal anomalies
  • Foetal well-being

Course Design

Online course content followed by a 1-day hands-on facilitated workshop.


Who Should Enroll

This course is appropriate for radiologists, sonographers, radiographers, mid wives and general practitioners. Delegates should have a medical qualification and have access to an ultrasound scanner to improve upon their ultrasound skills.


Accreditation

Accredited according to the HPCSA’s Medical and Dental Board Guidelines for Health Professionals for 30 CEU's on Level 2.


Certification

To qualify for the certificate of completion, delegates have to complete and pass the online course content as well as successfully complete the hands-on assessment process.


Assessment

Participants are assessed on the self-study component of the course through means of a portfolio of evidence.
