E-Learning: Short Course in Management of Common Vascular Diseases

If you have not previously attended one of the earlier vascular courses this is an ideal opportunity to get an all-in one perspective on the common diseases of the vascular system (including cardiovascular disease, vascular complications of metabolic disease, cerebrovascular disease and peripheral vascular disease). These conditions are linked by the enormous burden they place on health services and funders in South Africa and only through adequate knowledge can we hope to promote patient education, quality of life and medication compliance, thereby reducing the economic burden of these conditions.

Course Content

This course will cover the following modules:

  • Cardiovascular risk factor recognition and management.
  • Current treatment status of vascular diseases.
  • Use fixed combinations in the treatment of hypertension rationale and benefits.
  • The role of ACE inhibitors as standard treatment in the management of coronary artery disease.
  • The disease process.
  • Diagnosis.
  • Managing the elderly HT patient (Systolic HT).
  • Managing diabetes as a vascular disease.
  • Coronary prognosis in diabetes.
  • Silent coronary disease and silent myocardial ischaemia.
  • Consequences of endothelial dysfunction.
  • Cerebrovascular disease.
  • Peripheral vascular disease.

Course Design

This is an online course. Participants have 3 months to complete the assessment process from date of registration.

Accredited according to HCPSA's Medical and Dental Board Guidelines for Healthcare Professionals for 10 CEU's per module on Level 2.


Your CPD certificate will be generated to your online CPD Manager, upon completion.


Participants are assessed online through a multiple choice questionnaire.
