E-Learning: Short Course in Management of Cardiovascular Disease

12 Clinical Points Only R 1 997.37 (incl VAT)

FPD is registered with the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) as a Private Higher Education Institution (PHEI) in terms of Section 54(1)(c) of the Act and Regulation 16(4)(a).

The Management of Cardiovascular diseases is a major contributor to health challenges faced by countries such as South Africa. In 1999 CVD contributed to a third of global deaths with 78% of these deaths taking place in low and middle-income countries. By 2010 it is estimated that CVD will be the leading cause of death in developing countries.

The WHO Global Strategy aims to effectively control CVD risk factors and to reduce the burden of the fast growing cardiovascular disease (CVD) epidemic particularly in developing countries. In South Africa, given that the majority of health care professionals are in the private sector, it is reasonable to expect the private sector to play a major role in implementing this strategy.
